“Norfolk Express” has run aground and is to be towed free shortly

The containership “Norfolk Express” ran aground this morning at 5.12 local time in the Gulf of Suez. The reason for the grounding has not yet been established. No one was injured, and no oil was found to be leaking. The vessel is to be towed free shortly.

The “Norfolk Express”, which was built in 1995 and has a length of 245m and 3,600 TEU capacity, was proceeding from Gioia Tauro (Italy) to Jebel Ali (Dubai) on a service from Europe via the Middle East to East Asia.
